11 Questions – 11 Answers

It would seem that the lovely Ginger who nominated me for this award didn’t take into consideration whether or not I could follow directions.  🙂  It seems the 11 questions I answered were not from her.  So, without further ado, here goes.

1. Where do you blog from?  I blog from North Carolina in the United States.  Usually sitting in my living room with my laptop.  I just can’t get into blogging with a tablet or phone.  I find the keyboard too small.
2. What is our motto (for life, your blog, your work… you choose)?  I don’t think I have a motto anymore.  When the kids were small I had “a place for everything and everything in its place.”  Now I just have a couple of quotes that I love.  “Gratitude is when what you have is enough.”  “Many things in life will catch your eye. Only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.” Unknown and my all time favorite is “Not my circus. Not my monkeys.” Old Polish Proverb
3. What is your favorite blog post (yes you choose your own)?  I don’t think I have a favorite post, but maybe the one here.
4. Coffee or tea?  Hot coffee in the morning, iced coffee in the afternoon, and hot tea before bed.
5. What is your favorite foreign recipe?  My Aunt Bunny was Polish and I loved the dishes she used to make.  So I would say kapusta.
6. What is your favorite animation (sorry I have a thing for animations at the moment and need some input)?  Having young grandchildren I get to see a lot of animated movies.  I guess I would say Finding Nemo is my favorite.
7. And as we are on it, what is your favorite movie?  My favorite movie is The Bells of St. Mary’s.  It starred Bing Crosby.  We used to see it every year at my elementary school’s holiday party.  I watch it all the time.
8. If you had the power to change the world, what would you change?  If I had the power to change the world I would change the hearts of those who would cause harm.
9. Tell us three of your strengths!  Well, I am not entirely sure these are still accurate since I have retired.  I am organized.  I am dedicated to whatever I take on.  I have a good work ethic.
10. Tell us your favorite way of pampering yourself!  My favorite way to pamper myself is to sit on the beach with my feet in the surf with a good book while sipping iced tea.
11. Tell us 11 places you would like to go!  Alaska, Italy, Ireland, The Holy Land, The Caribbean any and all islands there, Germany, Poland, Spain, Portugal, Peru, and Brazil.

Liebster Award

My blog has been nominated for the Liebster award by Ginger of The Bee Writes which was a very thoughtful and kind thing to do.  I have not ever participated in the award process, but this seems a little different than some of the awards I have seen.

Apparently, this award started by bloggers for bloggers and is really just a way to get people to visit blogs they may not have known about.  It is also a get to know you type deal as well.  I have decided I will participate this time.

11 questions from The Bee Writes.

1.  Where were you born?  I was born in Trenton, New Jersey.  I spent most of my childhood moving back and forth across the Delaware River to Pennsylvania.

2.  What has been your favorite pet and why?  You know I can’t choose just one.  My first dog was my dad’s before he and my mother got married.  His name was Shep.  he taught me and half the kids in the neighborhood to walk.  He would let us hang onto him and walk slowly.  Then there was Sox.  He was my cat.  He lived to be an old man of 17.  I can’t forget Bandit.  He was a Toy Fox Terrier who lived to the age of 14.  I adopted him from the SPCA in Pennsylvania.  I missed him terribly, but we had decided not to get another dog.  But, after my husband passed away I decided I wanted to get a dog.  I adopted Gracie from the Animal Shelter up the road.  She is the sweetest girl.

3.  Do you work?  If so where?  I am retired now, but I was an RN working in critical care in the Philadelphia area.

4.  If you could go exploring anywhere, where would that be?  If I could go exploring it would be to Rome, Italy.  I have always wanted to go there.  I could spend hours upon hours exploring the architecture with my camera.

5.  Your biggest regret?  I don’t really have any.  Whatever I did I did with the best knowledge at the time and always for the right reasons.

6.  How many siblings do you have?  What are your thoughts on that number?  I had one brother and he passed away three years ago.  I was lonely with only a younger brother.  I wanted a big family when I married.  I had four children.

7.  What decade do you really belong in?  This is a funny question to me.  I don’t think there is a decade I belong in this century or last century.

8.  Would you rather live in the Arctic or Antarctic Circle?  Neither, I like the Caribbean.  🙂

9.  What is your favorite artistic medium?  I am a quilter, I do needlework, cross stitch, embroidery, crewel, and love photography.

10.  Camping or hotels?  Hotels!  I am not a camper.  Give me hot and cold running water, a soft bed, color TV, and room service.

11.  Favorite school subject?  I was into science in school.

Catching Up

I just want to say thank you to everyone who visits my blog and comments.  I have been tied up much of this week and have not gotten to visit my friends of the blogosphere.   Things will calm down for me after the weekend and I will come around to visit your wonderful blogs. Dottie’s son is will be here sometime today and tomorrow we’ll be going to Animal Kingdom in Disney for the day.  I can’t wait.

This morning Gracie and I walked over 2 miles.  She’s now sitting by me in the dining room as I post this.  I think I wore her out.  Here is Gracie.

Gracie and Frank are napping.  I wore both of them out.  Gracie by walking so far this morning and Frank by looking for his charging cable for the hand push lawn mower.  They are both napping now.  :).

Have a blessed day everyone.

Here are my answers.

List some of your favorites types of teas.

I don’t drink hot tea. I have never really liked it. I do drink iced tea by the gallons. I prefer it decaffeinated, unsweetened, with lemon, and my favorite brand is Luzianne.

If you had to describe your day as a traffic sign, what would it be?

The traffic sign that describes most of my days is Caution. I have a habit of rushing into things before I think them through. I would much rather just do a task once instead of having to repeat it over and over.

What are a couple of things people could do for you on a really bad day that would really help you?

The most valuable thing someone could do for me in this instance is to allow me to vent freely without being judged. I am always able to handle what comes along if I can just talk it out. And make me a cup of coffee. 🙂

Irregardless of your physical fitness, coordination or agility: If you could be an athlete what would do do? Remember this is SYW, dreaming is always allowed.

I love to go fast so I would love to be a NASCAR driver. I realize that there is a school of thought that race car drivers are not athletes, but they must be physically fit to withstand the speed and conditions in the car for hours. So, as far as I am concerned, they are definitely athletes.

Optional Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am most grateful for the progress I have made in my spiritual journey this past week and am looking forward to continuing to onward.

Friendly Fill-Ins

Week 62: July 14, 2017

  1. My inner child is happiest when reading.  I have always been an avid reader.  I can escape into many worlds by opening a book and getting lost in it.
  2. My favorite month is September.  It’s the month I was born, the month I got married and the month my son was born.
  1. My favourite commercial is I don’t really have a favorite commercial, but it used to be the Allstate Insurance commercials featuring Kasey Kahne.  He is a NASCAR racer driving the No. 5 for Hendricks Motorsports.  At the time of the commercials he drove the No. 9.  These commercials featured three middle aged women who were obsessed with Kasey and they continually caused him to try to drive away from them and winded up having an accident.  They were really comical.  He is my favorite race car drive.
  1. Personally, I don’t care for grocery store checkout gossip wrags.  I hate them!  I can remember so many times when I was shopping with my kids when they were small and got asked questions about sex and paternity and is there a God from my kids.  They are useless rubbish.  Ok, off my soap box now.  🙂
