About Me

This is my favorite beach in North Carolina.  After I discovered it back in the 90’s I never went to the Jersey Shore again.  I could actually see my feet through the water here.  I was hooked and it was only a year or so later that we bought our first house in Calabash, NC.  Although we didn’t move here permanently until 2003, we spent many, many wonderful hours soaking up the NC sun at Sunset Beach.

It was at the house in Calabash that my love for cows surfaced.  I was visiting a cute little craft shop in the area when I came upon a cow doll.  She was too cute.  I just had to have her.  I decided that I would decorate my kitchen in Calabash with black and white cow accessories.  It soon became quite the sickness and not only took over my little vacation home, but the herd spread into my home near Philly.  It seems once people find out you are collecting something they go out of their way to find whatever it is and buy it for you.

A little about me.  I am a Catholic widow, mother, grandmother, friend and according to my kids just a little bit crazy. My faith is paramount in my life. Spending time with my family, especially my four grandchildren is one of my most treasured blessings. I love Washington Redskins football, Philadelphia Phillies baseball and NASCAR. I am a quilter, bibliophile, and collector of many things. Photography is one of my passions,  and since I have discovered genealogy and blogging, I believe I will need a few more hours added to each day.

I recently had a wake up call.  My husband passed away in August 2016 very suddenly.  I have since changed my way of living.  I am more active than I have been in years.  I eat a paleo diet which is the easiest diet I have ever been on.  I’ve lost over 30 pounds and no longer require any treatment for diabetes.  And I am getting rid of things.  I have realized that things are just that, and a de-cluttered home is a much more comfortable home.   My husband had a saying, “You don’t have to feed it.”  In other words just hang on to it. Needless to say I have way too much stuff!  I used to kid him that he was only a stone’s throw away from being a hoarder.  I couldn’t really blame him, he came by it naturally and I certainly knew what I was getting myself into.

In 2003 we moved to NC permanently and I just love it here.  Both of my daughters live here as well.  My son and his family are in Miami Beach.  It’s a little too far to suit me, but he has to live the life God has planned for him.  I am fortunate enough to be able to visit fairly often.

I hope you will stop by often and say hello.
