Everything Happens For A Reason

After spending yesterday preparing for my guild’s outreach workshop today, I discovered that our well pump stopped working last night.  Our well is located on the side of our property.  Since there is no light out there, we could do nothing.  So I had to call my co-chair to let her know she would be on her own today.  I hate to miss these workshops.  The plan was to work on the firehouse quilts.  We are almost finished with them.

So, it looks like today I will be hanging around the house waiting for the well man.  I hope that it’s nothing serious and can be taken care of today.  Living without water is quite difficult.  You don’t realize how much we take for granted.  It ‘s an eye opener.  Maybe I’ll be able to get some sewing done.

On Sunday we visited with my daughter for her birthday.  We had such a nice time with Sam and Stephen.  When we got to her house, her old roommate from college was there.  It was such a nice surprise to see him.

I’ve also been working on our family tree.  It’s amazing to find our ancestors and see pictures and documents from them.  I can spend all day searching through documents and records.

Have a good day.

Almost Christmas

I cannot believe that it’s almost Christmas and I have not posted here since July.  To say things have been interesting in my life is an understatement.  We visited my son in August.  Three days after we arrived I proceeded to fall on the wet kitchen floor and broke my shoulder.  OUCH!!!  I wound up being stuck in Florida for five weeks.  We tried to come home after three, but the pain was too much so we headed over to our friends home near Orlando.  We spent the rest of the time there.  I was truly blessed I didn’t need surgery.  It was quite a significant fracture, but non displaced.

When we got back to North Carolina, I began six weeks of physical therapy.  Again OUCH!!!  But no pain no gain right?  I have regained all of my range of motion, but am still exercising to gain strength.

Needless to say this has put me wayyyyyy behind for the holidays.  So my grand-kids are getting gift cards this year.  I am still hoping to get a few little things made.  We are not decorating this year as we will not be entertaining.  So I decided to decorate my blog.  This is our tree from last year.  As you can see it’s decorated with cows.  I know, my kids think I am crazy too!  🙂

One of the best things about my injury is that I have been reading like crazy.  It was weeks before I could even type on the computer and I still have not done any sewing, and reading helped fill my days and nights.  I reactivated my Goodreads account and have been trying to update it.  One of my favorite authors is James Patterson of the Alex Cross fame.  I think I have read every book he has written, or they are on my list of books to read,  I have finally discovered electronic readers.  Wow!  I can make the text large enough for me to read it.  Seems the older I get the bigger the print needs to be.  LOL
