Oh wait, that’s not right. It’s not Monday night. However, I am ready for football. I even donned my husband’s 42-year-old Eagles jersey. He gave it to me years ago to wear as a nightshirt after the team changed the colour of green they wore. The Eagles haven’t worn this shade of gre
en in many years. It’s been washed so often that the white screen print is coming off.
As you can see I am a bit of a novice at taking selfies. I found a selfie stick at the dollar store. I couldn’t help myself and picked it up then proceeded to lose it somewhere in the house. Hence the bad angle and short-limbed photo you see here.
Bad photo or not, I have my colours on to support the Eagles. Fly Eagles fly
Enjoy the game!

I just poured myself a cup of coffee. Mmmm! Nothing like that first sip in the morning. So, my week was filled with more of the same. Sorting through more boxes of the stuff Gary and I had collected over 41 years of marriage. I will be downsizing so this is really a necessary task. As much as I hate to part with some of the treasures we have amassed, I am happy that there are many thrift shops that support various ministries in my area. So I know that my treasures will go on to make others happy and also help those in need.
Gracie has decided to lay on my lap as I share my coffee time with ya’ll. Gracie is my little Cairn Terrier mix. Just look at that sweet face.

I don’t really have big plans for the weekend. I’ll go to Mass this evening instead of in the morning. I am so happy it is possible to go to Mass on Saturday evening since I am definitely not a morning person. I spent most of my nursing career working on the night shift.
I am looking forward to the Superbowl. I am a sports fan. I am from the Philadelphia area, however, not really an Eagles fan. That was my husband’s team. I have been a Washington Redskins fan since the days of Joe Theismann. He was a heck of a quarterback. I was watching a Hallmark movie one time he was playing the father of one of the main characters. As much as I like the guy, his acting wasn’t stellar. But I digress. Since my team didn’t make it to the Superbowl, I have to support the division the Redskins are in. So, I will be cheering on the Flying Eagles.

I also feel a responsibility to cheer for the Eagles for my husband. I know he is smiling from ear to ear they have made it to the Superbowl again. I hope they win for him. 🙂 And of course, as much as I used to like the Pats, I cannot condone the blatant cheating that they have done in the past. It’s time for Tom Brady and the Pats to be put in their place. Just my humble opinion.
I’ll be texting all through the game with my kids during the game for sure. I remember years ago going to Superbowl parties with friends and family. It was always fun. Those days are gone so it will be Gracie and me watching the game and the strongest thing I will be consuming is chocolate ice cream. 🙂
Oops! Time to refill my coffee. Enjoy your weekend and have a good week everyone.
Keep the faith!

Here are this week’s fill-ins:
1. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, on your own intelligence do not rely; In all your ways be mindful of him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3 5:6
2. I would protest abortion any day of the week.
3. I have been eating a paleo diet since January 2016 and have been taken off three medications with this healthy diet. I am no longer on insulin twice a day, blood pressure medication or thyroid medication.

I have not had much opportunity to take any photos since I have returned from Florida. When I was there I had to walk the dog three times a day and I took my camera with me. As I explored the area with Gracie, I was presented with many opportunities to catch some photos. Here at home, Gracie has the run of five acres so I don’t walk too much anymore.
Today I noticed that my Christmas Cactus had finally started blooming. I just love the blooms that the cactus produces. Long story short, I had to get a few shots of it especially since my camera was sitting right there. 🙂

Daily Prompt: Puzzled
Daily Prompt: Profuse
Many of you know, those who follow my blog at least, I have been sorting through all of my belongings since my husband died. I have been profusely puzzled that I am not getting very far with this daunting task. But, I think I have discovered the reason.
I have a few hobbies, quilting, photography, reading, blogging… For the last two weeks, I have attended my Sit and Stitch group on Tuesdays. One of the girls brought in some patterns and wool for applique. It was so kind of her to share her talents and fabric with us. However, I think she has created a bit of a monster. I decided that for my center block on the Red Robin quilt I am starting should be wool applique. So…
I had filled my van with a lot of my doll and cow collection articles for donation to Goodwill. I finally got there to donate what I had and could not just leave after the very nice gentleman helped me unload the van. So, I moved the car down to the entrance to the resale store.
I started looking around and found a whole wrack with wool jackets. Wow! They were only $4.59 a piece. I was on cloud nine with excitement. I chose four jackets to take home for deconstruction and use with my wool applique.
When I walked in the door at home clutching my treasures, I was brought down from cloud nine with the site of more boxes and bins to be sorted and loaded into the van for donation. A light bulb went off in my head. I realized that my dear husband was not the only one who just couldn’t say no to temptation when he saw a good buy. I had to admit that I too am a bit of a saver of stuff.
No wonder I am not getting anywhere with the purging. I have decided that I am not going to beat my self up over my hobbies and the “stuff” I need to enjoy them anymore, and that treading water is much better than drowning. It may not be as good as safely reaching the shore, but tomorrow is another day. 🙂

This is not a political blog. That being said, I find that there are some things of which I must blog about. The latest slap in the face to my Christian faith is another blasphemous play, Corpus Christi. It is being presented by the Richmond Triangle Players. The documentary film made about the play, Jesus Christ is shown passionately kissing His Apostles, performing the marriage of two homosexual men, and viciously striking a female actress among other obscenities. Those who protest these types of plays are portrayed most unkindly.
And the New York Post reported Corpus Christi uses Gospel passages in a contrived way: ‘“Art Thou King of the queers?’ McNally’s Pontius Pilate character asks. Thou sayest,’ Joshua answers.”
Please don’t take offense. I have gay friends. I believe that they are loved by God just as I am loved by God. I do not live their lives. I do not answer for them to God. Just as I don’t answer for someone who commits murder or rape. I answer for me and what I do and have done.
That all being said, the issue is not with homosexuality, but rather with the disrespect and the lack of moral compass of the writers and producers of such an insult to the Christian religion. I ask you, what would happen if the Muslim faith were portrayed in this fashion? Christians have become the most persecuted people in the United States. It saddens me that Christians have become the most persecuted people in the United States.
Nowhere in Christian history is Jesus found to be gay. Nowhere in Christian history is Jesus found to strike another. Nowhere in Christian history is Jesus seen kissing anyone passionately.
Is this type of entertainment necessary for our world today?
If anyone feels that they would like to do something about this play, here is a link to fill in a petition to have it stopped.

Today is the final day of our novena. Here are today’s intercessions, prayers, and acts of reparation.
Intercession: For God’s peace to fill the hearts of all who travel upon the path of adoption.
Prayers: Our Father, 3 Hail Marys, Glory Be
Reflection: The Letter to the Hebrews reminds us to “hold fast to the hope that lies before us. This we have as an anchor of the soul, sure and firm” (Heb 6:18-19). We pray that all who are involved in the adoption process would be filled with the hope of Christ and “the peace of God that surpasses all understanding” (Phil 4:7). We also remember that we too can cling fast to this anchor of hope, for we have received “a spirit of adoption, through which we cry, ‘Abba, Father!'” (Rom 8:15). May our loving Father envelop each of us in his love today and open our eyes in faith that we may see and rejoice in his love.
Acts of Reparation (choose one):
One Step Further: “Accompanying Expectant Mothers Considering Adoption” suggests nine ways to offer ongoing support to a woman who is considering placing her unborn child for adoption (www.usccb.org/women-considering-adoption). Many of the tips given are also helpful for supporting a friend who is experiencing a challenging unexpected pregnancy, even if adoption has not been brought up.
Supplemental reference information regarding adoption can be found at www.usccb.org/adoption-resources.
Thank you for joining me in this novena.
God bless!

Here are today’s intercessions, prayers and acts of reparation for today.
Intercession: For an end to the use of the death penalty in our country.
Prayers: Our Father, 3 Hail Marys, Glory Be
Reflection: As Catholics, we believe and put our hope in a merciful and loving God. We are conscious of our own brokenness and need for redemption. Our Lord calls us to imitate him more perfectly by witnessing to the inherent dignity of every person, including those whose actions have been despicable. Our faith and hope is in the mercy of God who says to us, “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy” (Mt 5:7) and “I desire mercy, not sacrifice” (Mt 9:13). As Christians, we are called to oppose the culture of death by witnessing to something greater and more perfect: a gospel of life, hope and mercy.
Acts of Reparation (choose one):
One Step Further: For some people who are committed to upholding the sanctity of human life, the death penalty can present a challenge. Properly understood, however, Catholic teaching against the death penalty is both persuasive and eminently pro-life. Learn about the death penalty within the context of respect for God’s gift of human life in “Death Penalty: Catholic Q & A” (www.usccb.org/death-penalty-faq).
God bless!

Here are the intercessions, prayers, and activities for today.
Intercession: May those who long for a child of their own be filled with trust in God’s loving plan.
Prayers: Our Father, 3 Hail Marys, Glory Be
Reflection: It can be very difficult and painful when the Lord doesn’t answer our prayers the way we hope. We may have many doubts and questions, wondering why we face the challenges that we do. Yet even though our suffering is often shrouded in a sense of mystery, we believe that the Lord loves us with great tenderness and compassion that is beyond our imagination. Knowing this, we can trust that “all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose” (Rom 8:28).
Acts of Reparation (choose one):
One Step Further: “Seven Considerations While Navigating Infertility” (www.usccb.org/navigating-infertility) seeks to provide compassionate guidance that is both practical and informative for married couples who are walking on this road. Although geared to such couples, the article is also helpful for anyone to read, offering insight into the experience of infertility and giving awareness of the need for sensitivity in our relationships with those who may be affected.
God bless!
