Tell Me Something Good:  June 6, 2017

Monday Monday by The Momas and the Popas

Monday, Monday, so good to me
Monday mornin´, it was all I hoped it would be
Oh Monday mornin´, Monday mornin´ couldn´t guarantee
That Monday evenin´ you would still be here with me

Monday, Monday, can´t trust that day
Monday, Monday, sometimes it just turns out that way
Oh Monday mornin´ you gave me no warnin´ of what was to be
Oh Monday, Monday, how could you leave and not take me

Every other day, every other day
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes
A-you can find me cryin´ all of the time

Monday, Monday, so good to me
Monday mornin´, it was all I hoped it would be
But Monday mornin´, Monday mornin´ couldn´t guarantee
That Monday evenin´ you would still be here with me

Every other day, every other day
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes
A-you can find me cryin´ all of the time

Monday, Monday, can´t trust that day
Monday, Monday, it just turns out that way
Oh Monday, Monday, won´t go away
Monday, Monday, it´s here to stay
Oh Monday, Monday
Oh Monday, Monday

So today is Monday.  To most of the world it’s the beginning of the work week or school week.  I never bought into the Monday Blues especially since I loved school and I worked as an RN for over 30 years.  My work week started on any day of the week.  The same for my weekends.  They were not always on Saturday and Sunday.

So, since I have spent most of my life living a very strange week, here’s some advice.

Monday is just a day.  It is 24 hours long just like every other day in the week.  There is no reason to believe it is anything more or less.  It has always been my experience that you can choose not to fall into the pitfalls of such societal ideas.  Nothing  is written in stone to change your good humor and mood because the day is Monday. So, throw out those cranky pants ideas about Mondays and have a wonderful day.

“You think Mondays are bad? Try working weekends, holidays and 12 hour nights!”  Many nurses I have worked with over the years.  🙂
