Abortion

I guess if you visit my blog often you realize I am against abortion.  Making abortion illegal and stopping our tax dollars from paying for abortion on demand is very dear to me.  There are so many other programs our millions of tax dollars would benefit from.  For one it would help lower our national debt.

I believe we all have equal rights.  No one should have the right to murder.  It is actually illegal to commit murder right?  I have yet to hear of anyone who becomes pregnant say I am expecting an embryo, or a lump of tissue.  No, we, and I use the term we as a societal pronoun, say we are going to have a baby.  Merriam-Webster defines baby as:

plural babies
1 a (1) :  an extremely young child; especially :  infant (2) :  an extremely young animal
b :  the youngest of a group

2 a :  one that is like a baby (as in behavior)
b :  something that is one’s special responsibility, achievement, or interest

3 slang a :  girl, woman —often used in address
b :  boy, man —often used in address

4:  person, thing

When does life begin?

“The American College of Pediatricians concurs with the body of scientific evidence that human life begins at conception – fertilization…. Scientific and medical discoveries over the past three decades have only verified and solidified this age-old truth. At the completion of the process of fertilization, the human creature emerges as a whole, genetically distinct, individuated zygotic living human organism, a member of the species homo sapiens, needing only the proper environment in order to grow and develop. The difference between the individual in its adult stage and in its zygotic stage is not one of personhood but of development. The Mission of the American College of Pediatricians is to enable all children to reach their optimal physical and emotional health and well-being from the moment of conception.”
When Human Life Begins, American College of Pediatricians, March 2004

“After fertilization has taken place a new human being has come into being…[this] is no longer a matter of taste or opinion, it is not a metaphysical contention, it is plain experimental evidence….” – Dr Jerome LeJeune, Professor of Genetics at the University of Descartes, Paris, discoverer of the chromosome pattern of Down’s Syndrome, and Nobel Prize Winner, Report, Subcommittee on Separation of Powers to Senate Judiciary Committee S-158, 97th Congress, 1st Session 1981.

I have quoted the above from  Just The Facts .  Take a look at the site, it is full of information about when life begins.

Now, if you look at the definition of life, and read what actually happens during conception they are in agreement.  Live has begun.  This is leaving religion out of it.  This is simply the biological, medical and moral evidence for life beginning at conception; and therefore since our Constitution ensures the basic right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, unborn babies have rights because they are life.  Plain and simple.

For those of you who do believe in God, and I am one of those folks, He creates our life  He knits us in our mother’s womb.  He knows the number of hairs on our head.  The color of our eyes, how tall we will be, how smart we will be.  What talents we will have.  For me and for all of us, it is not a matter of simple biology, but a miracle that takes place during conception.  If you don’t believe this, just ask a woman who can’t conceive.  I believe that God has a plan for each and every one of us. Even for those non-believers.  Just because you don’t believe doesn’t mean that God doesn’t exist and that what you are living is His plan.  I know that it is God’s plan that will unfold in my life, not my plan.

All life is a gift to be treasured, loved, nurtured and lived to the fullest extent guaranteed to us by our constitution.

Have a good one.
