Works Of Mercy

Pope Francis has declared this the Jubilee Year Of Mercy.  He calls us to be merciful with our neighbor.  To see Jesus in everyone we meet.  To joyfully serve.

“Lent is a time of conversion and a time to deepen one’s faith, demonstrating and sharing it through the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.”  This is a quote from Pope Francis in his Message For Lent released on January 26th.  He calls us to task especially in this Jubilee Year Of Mercy.

Giving our neighbor a hand with a project, or helping with a food drive are just simple ways we can live our faith.  Giving of our self in the neighborhood school or church.  Visiting the sick or shut-ins. Praying for the souls in Purgatory or for the victims of a natural disaster.  Volunteering at a homeless shelter or hospice.  Doing our daily chores and offering the merit of them for those in need.  These are such simple acts that we can do which will have an amazing effect on our world and our spiritual health.
